WWPIS are delighted to announce the launch of a new partnership with Dublin GAA.
The aim is to support parents, coaches and players involved in both the recreational performance programmes to build positive relationships, ensuring players gain the most from the experience both on and off the field.
To try and achieve this, WWPIS and Dublin GAA will work together to deliver a number of specifically targeted and designed projects across a number of key stakeholders in 2023.
Available for purchase immediately as part of this launch for clubs and parents is the ‘Our Sporting Journey’ series for Under 5, Under 7 and Under 9 players which incorporate two playing seasons within each book. The books have been created for Gaelic Football as well as Hurling and Camogie.
The ‘Our Sporting Journey’ is a series of interactive books for children, putting them at the heart of the sporting experience, allowing them to have plenty of fun, grow as people both on and off the field and immerse themselves in their sporting experience as they progress through their sporting journey.
The books all have plenty of activities for children, encourage positive interaction between children and their parents, require plenty of parental involvement whether that be in having positive conversations, playing in the garden or helping to stick in the pictures that will allow everyone to build up a memory book that will last a lifetime.
Michael Gerrard Doherty has been a huge inspiration behind the books as part of this partnership.
Dublin GAA have already had the pleasure of Michael facilitating Coach Development workshops to showcase the benefits of his books for clubs, parents, coaches and of course children.
Gordon MacLelland, CEO of Working with Parents in Sport, said: “I am extremely excited to be working alongside Dublin GAA to help support them in creating the best possible environment for young players.
“Everyone has a role to play in this and we are looking forward to working with and learning from key stakeholders to ensure we create the most supportive programmes possible.”
Ger O’Connor, Dublin GAA Director of Coaching & Club Development, said: “This partnership with WWPIS and Our Sporting Journey alongside Gordon & Michael adds significantly to our Coaching Resource books. We are very excited to see the impact that these books will have with our youngest players.”
Owen Mooney, Dublin GAA Learning & Games Development Coordinator, said: “We are delighted to launch a Dublin GAA version of these fantastic books. They are a great way to connect the coach, child, and parent through FUN games & activities.”
