We are delighted to announce five new partnerships with national governing bodies in Northern Ireland. These include the Irish Football Association, Ulster Swimming, Ulster Badminton, Ulster Hockey and Ireland Cycling.
This has seen us training mentors to deliver the WWPIS coach and parent presentations across all of these sports. We are delighted with the customised presentations that we have created that allow all sports to take real ownership and make the content and delivery specific to their sport.
We will also be regularly visiting Northern Ireland to help deliver these presentations each year to a number of different groups as well as touching base with all of the sports to ensure we are maximising the impact that we have on the ground.
As part of this partnership several sports will be customising the Great Sports Parenting book and Engage coaches book as well as creating a customised members areas of our website for their parents and coaches.
We would like to say a big thank you to Sport Northern Ireland, for inviting us over originally to speak in Tollymore in May 2018 and who over the last 12 months have been working hard behind the scenes to facilitate and allow such a positive project to take place.
Sport Northern Ireland have been a driving force in developing these partnerships in order to assist national governing bodies to support their parents, coaches and ultimately the youngsters who engage in their sports.
Michael Cooke, Coach Education and Club Consultant from Sport NI, said, ‘Working with Parents in Sport have provided a real focus on the importance on parents in youth sport. Sport Northern Ireland are delighted to have supported five National Governing Bodies to better engage sporting parents within the sports of Badminton, Cycling, Football, Hockey and Swimming. Crafting opportunities to up-skill, educate and develop both parents and coaches will help create more effective and holistic youth sport environments.’
