Working with Parents in Sport are delighted to announce a new partnership with British Shooting.
The first stage of the partnership will see the launch of the ‘Sports Performance Parenting’ programme with sessions already in the diary for parents over the next couple of months.
Throughout the next year there will be a series of workshops and webinars delivered across the shooting pathway programme as well as the development of further support as both parties work together to maximise the benefits of the partnership.
CEO Gordon MacLelland said, ‘This is such an exciting partnership. We are looking forward to working with British Shooting, providing not just support for parents but also working with the management and coaches on how they can engage and support the parents in their roles to help young shooters fulfil their potential. We are looking forward to developing support based on the intricacies of the sport and the unique environment that it possesses.’
Pathway and Community Coordinator Christian Schofield said, “British Shooting is delighted to be partnering with Gordon and his team at Working with Parents in Sport.
NGBs and parents from a large number of sports across Britain and the world have benefited from their support and assistance and we are excited to be a part of this community.
British Shooting are committed to supporting and engaging with parents, to work together to best support them in their support and development needs through the multiple roles they play in their child’s journey through sport. An aspiring athlete’s journey through sport is rarely linear and they must navigate the ups and downs of their journey, with their parents/guardians right there alongside them, and we are committing to helping parents through that journey as a performance parent.
We are excited by the potential of this collaboration and look forward to working with the parents, Gordon, and his team to create a supportive community together.”
