We recently put the finishing touches to a new project with our long term partners at Sport Northern Ireland.
This new project saw us join forces to create a foundational workshop for clubs on building ‘positive parent cultures’ and supporting coaches in building positive relationships with their athletes’ parents.
Michael Cooke (Club and Coach Development Manager Sport NI) told us,
‘As part of Sport NI’s Club Experience programme we have designed and developed a range of learning resources which will support the education and development of sports coaches operating in the club environment. One of the aspects within the programme is enabling positive coach parent relationships. WWPIS have used all their expertise to help us develop that particular resource. Gordon is an industry expert in terms of parents in sport and it was excellent to have him support us in this process.’
National Governing Bodies have then been engaged to develop their parental engagement programmes further with a range of packages and services from us here at WWPIS.
Annual packages for the NGB’s include customised website platforms, resources, webinars and workshops for coaches, parents and parent coaches as well as ongoing support and consultancy.
We are extremely privileged to work with so many different NGB’s and this experience allows us to share best practise and experiences of working across multiple organisations as well as designing programmes specific to the cultures of individual sports.
We already have established relationships with Ulster Swimming, Ulster Hockey and Ulster Badminton and those programmes are already having positive impacts in clubs, with coaches and with a large number of sporting parents.
The sky is the limit across this project as we all look to work together to create the best possible sporting experience for our young people.
