WWPIS were privileged to be invited to the Inside Game Conference at the International School of Geneva in Switzerland. CEO Gordon MacLelland delivered two workshops. The first was to the parents on Great Sports Parenting and the second workshop was to coaches called ‘Engage – how to build positive relationships with your player’s parents.’
Both parents and coaches joined in with each of the workshops with great enthusiasm and this meant so much information was openly and honestly shared between all parties. The buzz around the theatre during some of the interactive moments was evidence of this.
Here are a couple of small clips from each of the workshops:
Keynotes speakers at the conference included Dr Wade Gilbert, Dr Sergio Lara Bercial, Dr Richard Bailey, Amy Carroll and James Leath. The wide variety of the schedule for coaches and parents made this such a unique event.
For coaches topics covered included:
- What is good coaching?
- What do children need and want?
- What is coaching mastery?
- Mastering communication
- Mastering Learning: designing and implementing an effective practice
For parents:
- How to better manage the coach relationship?
- The student athlete – understanding the effects of nutrition and sleep
- Education options and sport
The panel discussion at the end of the event could have gone on for hours with so many topics covered including E-Sports and there were so many great contributions from both the panel and the audience. We are very much looking forward to the event in 2020.
